Colbea Announces Digital Training Partnership with TechEast & Colchester Borough Council
The Colchester Business Enterprise Agency (COLBEA) has announced its partnership with TechEast and Colchester Borough Council to help small and medium-sized business prepare for upcoming digital trends and threats, such as Artificial Intelligence, GDPR implementation and Cyber Crime, through the delivery of digital technology training.
Industry-Leading Tech Seminars on the doorstep an “unmissable opportunity” for Colchester businesses
The first stage of the collaboration will consist of a series of breakfast seminars for SMEs tackling some of the most prominent digital issues predicted to affect UK businesses in 2018. Topics covered, by industry leading speakers, will include the new GDPR regulations, which will be enforced as of 25 May 2018, and the dangers of cybercrime, which affected 2.9 million UK businesses in 2016 costing a combined £29 billion. Local businesses will also have the opportunity to learn more about the rise of Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from the sector’s thought leaders.
The seminars, taking place during March 2018, will be delivered by TechEast, the East of England body responsible for the emerging technology sector, which has worked alongside Government and decision-makers on key policy areas such as the Innovation Audit for the East of England and the Digital Skills Plan for the East of England.
Colchester Borough Council’s role in the partnership has been to provide funding to ensure that cutting-edge digital training remains affordable for the Borough’s start-ups and small businesses. It also plays a vital role in the Borough’s ambitions around digital development as outlined in its 2017-2022 Digital Strategy. As part of this strategy partnership work during 2017 with leading London-based tech publishers, UK Tech News, showcased the town’s burgeoning tech sector so this training is timely for these businesses too.
Tim Robinson, COO of TechEast, says
“We are excited to be working with Colbea to bring practical training to the Colchester SME business community. Digital technology plays an essential role underpinning the growth and prosperity of businesses in all sectors and it is fantastic to see Colbea and Colchester Borough Council playing a leadership role in informing businesses of the opportunities that embracing new technology can bring.”
Ashleigh Seymour-Rutherford, Chief Executive of Colbea, says,
“TechEast has been labelled as the collective voice of the East of England digital tech sector. To be able to bring them to Colchester to deliver industry-leading seminars is an unmissable opportunity for the local business community to access and learn from the minds leading this industry in the UK and worldwide. And, thanks to Colchester Borough Council, they can do so at a subsidised rate which is affordable for smaller businesses.”
